- Which 1541 is it? 1540, 1541, or 1541-II?

- Anyway, the problem is most likely in the power section of the 1541
- motherboard. Not the power supply itself, but the motherboard. Looking at
- the open drive from the front, in the back right corner you will see two
- squarish upright black things labeled cr1 and cr 3. One of these is your
- most likely source of the problem. It is also possible but not probable
- that one of your capacitors has blown. They are located right in front of
- the items described above. The first thing to check for is a cold solder
- joint on the black upright squares described above. Just take a iron and
- remelt the solder around the four legs of these items. You should also look
- for heat and burn marks as telltale signs of defective parts. I won't get
- into any chips it may be as the above should be the correct fix.
